Age: 11 months (Sept 2018)
Breed: Australian Shepherd
This freckly black tri boy is Booker! He is an 11 month old Australian Shepherd boy with better hair than Justin Bieber (circa 2009). Don’t be fooled, Booker is more than just his good looks, he has the Aussie brain and energy to go with it. Just between you and I, though, he’s still trying to figure out how to use his smarts. A majority of the time he’s moving too quick to let his brain do any of the thinkin’, but the rare moments he slows down enough to reallllly think, he shines!
Booker, lovingly Booger, came to us full of energy and lacking manners, but he’s learning the ropes from his three foster siblings and a lot of patience from his foster family on how to use those Aussie brains for good, not for evil. Booker was used to being the only child for most of his life, so he is still learning how to share things with his foster siblings. Speaking of foster siblings, Booker loves everyone (humans included)! He loves other dogs so much that he’s still trying to figure out why they don’t love him back equally as much and is slowly learning not all dogs want to play with him. While out for walks at the park or in town, Booker loves to greet everyone with a few kisses on the hand and a wiggle of his nub (he is still learning how to walk on a leash politely). And the best part about the walks around town and the park? The car ride there! Booker loves to stick his head out of the window to feel the wind in his fur (now that he’s learned he doesn’t have to sit IN your lap during the car rides).
Booker would love to find an active family that will take him on all of their adventures! He is looking for an Aussie experienced home who will continue all of his training, his little puppy brain has so much more to learn! Booker is your typical Velcro Aussie while inside, he loves his foster mom and foster dad equally, but can not be trusted off leash quite yet, ohhh that puppy brain – squirrel!
Booker has not been fully cat tested – but he has been very curious about those he has seen. He has also been kid tested but since he’s still a BIG puppy and tends to play a little rough, families with kids under 8 are not recommended.
Booker is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and neutered. He is currently fostered in Boone, NC and his adoption fee is $325. We do recommend at least one obedience class for all dogs adopted under one year of age. If you are an approved applicant and are interested in Booker please contact the adoption committee. If you are interested and not yet approved, please visit our website for adoption procedures and application.
