Cora is a 4-6 year old red merle Australian Shepherd with the sweetest baby blues and the cutest floppy ears. Cora is on the smaller side at just under 40 pounds.
Her foster parents think she is just a sweet peach! Not much is known about Cora prior to her foster home. She was brought to a local animal control as a stray and then rescued by Carolina Hearts. Animal Control said she was brought in after a storm and may have storm anxiety. Her foster parents assume she was a former yard dog – her poor coat is terribly bleached and she seems more relaxed outside but is learning how AUSSome it is to be an indoor dog!
Cora is sweet and calm. Cora enjoys affection, and wants so badly to receive someone’s unconditional love. She loves to press her head against her foster mom’s leg for attention and rubs. She is eager to learn and highly motivated by food. With lots of love and patience Cora will blossom in her forever home.
Cora has so much love to share. She loves going to PetsMart and meeting new people. Everyone “oohs” and “aahs” over her sweet demeanor and beautiful eyes. Cora also enjoys spending time off-leash at the dog park and bounces around the park greeting people and other dogs. She is definitely on the lower energy scale and a daily two mile walk around the neighborhood seems to be sufficient exercise for her, though she is working to build endurance. Cora‘s foster parents have nicknamed her the “Dream” because she walks so well on the leash.
Cora gets along fine with other dogs; however doesn’t always love the energy of a younger pup, therefore it is recommended Cora be an only dog or have older dog siblings. Cora has some crate anxiety, but is making steps towards feeling more comfortable in her crate – wearing a thunder shirt has helped considerably. Cora‘s foster parents allow her to sleep in the bedroom at night and she has proven to be trustworthy. Cora has done well with the children she has met, however we do not recommend her for a family with young children (under 6).
If you’re looking for an exercise pal Cora might not be the best fit for you. If you want to share your love with a low energy Aussie companion, Cora is your girl! Be ready to fall in love with this sweet, sweet teddy bear!
Cora is UTD on vaccinations, microchipped and spayed.
She is currently fostered in Concord, NC. Her adoption fee is $225.
