Name: Ginger
Age: 1 year
Breed: Australian Shepherd
Gender: Female

This lovely lady is Ginger, a one year old red merle Australian Shepherd. Ginger joined our rescue family along with her “brother” Bones, when their owner became sick and could no longer care for them.

Ginger is an absolute lovebug! She will smother you with kisses, whether you ask for them or not. Truth be told, she can be a little pushy, but she simply does not like to have her love denied. This girl is lovely in more than just looks – she’s a happy, friendly pup who loves other dogs, gets on with children, and is relatively ambivalent about cats (as far as we can tell).

Ginger is a smart girl, and has already been taught a few commands (though she may not always “hear” you say them). She is house trained, walks well on a leash, rides great in the car, and tolerates being in a crate. She needs some work on her manners, as she will walk up and steal your cheeseburger or hotdog right off your plate without a second thought (there were multiple cookout victims this holiday), but she’s a good girl with a willingness to please.

Ginger is spayed, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. She is being fostered in Durham, NC, and her adoption fee is $300. As with all our young female dogs, we avoid same-sex pairings with adoptions, so an adopter with a resident male dog (or no dog) will be preferred for Ginger.
