Age: 9 months
Breed: Australian Shepherd
Say hello to Gum Drop! This cutie is a 9 month old black tricolor Aussie girl with prick ears and a docked/bob tail. Gum Drop found herself at a local shelter and her people were not interested in taking her back.
Gum Drop is a sweetheart who LOVES her people. She gets along with everyone and is a happy girl. Gummy has a blast when training with her person, and is very food motivated. She also loves toys, and has a great recall. Snuggles are her absolute favorite (second would be happy laps around the yard, true Aussie style!).
Gum Drop is a high energy dog who needs a lot of appropriate exercise, as well as basic manners, etc. She is housetrained and crate trained, and rides well in the car. Gum Drop is good with other dogs of all sizes, and has done well with cats (but will chase if the situation is right). She is respectful of other dogs’ space and non-confrontational. She has not been tested with children. Gum Drop loves people, but like many Aussies she is reserved at first until she knows someone. She settled into her foster homes very quickly, but she is scary-looking when meeting new people due to her classic Aussie submissive grin.
Gum Drop would make an ideal pet for an active child-free home. She may be a potential disc or agility candidate (she has been started on chasing and catching rollers), but she will need plenty of time to bond with her new owner and build confidence first. She can be nervous in new environments. Group training with a force-free professional trainer is highly recommended for any adopter.
Gum Drop is located in Durham, NC and her adoption fee is $325. She is spayed and up to date on vaccines, and she is microchipped.
We are currently only accepting inquiries from approved applicants. If you are an approved applicant and are interested in Gum Drop, please contact the adoption committee.
