Are you looking for a family companion with big grins and playful energy?

If so, Heath just might be your guy! He is a one year old Australian shepherd. This social butterfly does very well with meeting new people. While he is more comfortable around women, he quickly warms up to his male human friends. Having lived with kids prior to coming into rescue, Heath seems curious about them now, but does not currently have regular interaction with children.

Heath is very velcro and will follow his foster parents around the house. He is medium to high energy, and feeds off of his canine friends. Heath has done very well with his male and female canine foster siblings. He has been cat tested and passed it with flying colors, but has not lived with one.

When it’s time to play with his foster siblings, Heath has been exceptionally mannered. Heath has no issues fitting into groups of multiple dogs in high energy environments such as the dog park and daycare. He plays fetch and loves the ball, and is making a lot of progress with learning disc. He is also learning to swim, which he thoroughly enjoys. After playing, he likes snuggling on the couch or begging for butt scratches from his foster humans.

He is crate trained and house broken. He knows a number of commands/tricks and is always up for learning something new. He is very food motivated and generally stays focused when engaged in training. Heath does great walking on a leash and loves riding in the car!

His ideal home has Aussie experience, as well as another dog, fenced yard, and plans for mental and physical stimulation. He also needs someone who is willing to step in and remind him when it’s time to take a break.

Heath is fostered in Fuquay Varina, NC, and his adoption fee is $300. He is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped.

If you are an approved applicant and are interested in Heath, please contact the adoption committee. If you are interested and not yet approved, please complete an adoption application.
