My name is Macbeth, but my people call me “Mac Mac” and “Macaroni” sometimes. I think I am around one-and-a-half years old now. Even though my name hearkens to a Shakespearean tragedy, I am not one to get down on my past, as I have lots of spirit, and I hope you can make my future even brighter! My humble beginnings aren’t the happiest, as I spent the first 7 months in a kennel with my siblings, but then I had a glimmer of hope as some very nice people took us in after we had been dropped off at a shelter.
My new life was starting, but my heart was set for adventure, as I’m an avid travel enthusiast after spending SO much time locked up. I decided to go out on my own for a summer sabbatical and lived life carefree like the three musketeers with my raccoon and large kitty friend! My foster mom was able to see me from a distance, and was keeping me well fed while I was taking the time to find myself. I had a mishap with a car that left me pretty banged up and I decided that full time life in the great outdoors was not for me. So I sought refuge in a barn and was again brought in by some really nice people and have now resumed life as a pampered indoor pup.
My legs are all healed up and I get to go on walks and play outside (in the safety of the fence) again! I still love being outside so I want to have my own yard. It needs to be fenced so that I don’t have the urge to go on another adventure on my own. I also really like other dogs so it’d be nice to make some more friends of my own kind. I can be very shy at first, but if you give me a chance I will make a great companion for you and your family. I need a family that will understand my introverted and nervous personality and help bring me out of my shell. It may be a process, but some stuff happened to me that I can’t seem to forget about. Even though I can’t talk to you, I am the best snuggler and a really great listener. I don’t mind sitting there for hours while you tell me your story. I hope to meet my forever family soon!
Macbeth is up to date on vaccines, neutered, and microchipped. He is currently fostered in Charlotte, NC and his adoption fee is $300. He will need a home with at least one other friendly dog (he has also met and done well with cats) and a fenced in yard. He would likely do best in a more low-key home without a lot of coming and going. He is still considered a flight risk and will need a diligent family to ensure he does not go on another walk-about. At present, Macbeth does not have any lingering issues from his injuries, but may suffer from arthritis as he ages.
We are not accepting new applications at this time – as we hope to have a pre-approved applicant who will be a good fit for this sweet boy. If you are an approved adopter and are interested in Macbeth, please contact the adoption committee!
