Nemo is a big, goofy, lover-boy

Nemo is what we believe to be an Australian Shepherd and Bernese Mountain Dog mix. He’s only 11 months old, but already weighs 80 pounds, so if you’re interested in this cutie you should be prepared for a very large dog when all is said and done! Nemo was dropped off at a South Carolina shelter by his owners, we suspect his size and energy level was too much for them.

This handsome boy is crate trained and house trained, and knows sit. He walks on a leash, but not very well – we’re working on that and will be training him with a gentle leader. Nemo gets along with every dog he’s met, and plays very gently with his (much) smaller foster siblings. We don’t suggest him to go to a home with cats, simply because of his size and the fact that we don’t know if he’s been raised properly with them.

Nemo would do best with a young, active, experienced family. At his size, he could easily injure an older person. The same goes with small children, though he’s been nothing but a sweetheart with them, he could knock a toddler down without meaning to.

Nemo is being fostered in Lexington, SC.
