Age: 7 years
Breed: Australian Shepherd
Gender: Female
Weight: 60 pounds

Onyx is a 7-year-old, female, black bi Aussie looking for her forever home. She was originally adopted from CHAR in 2017 and is back at no fault of her own as her adopter had major life changes was no longer able to care for her. She is a true Velcro dog and LOVES her humans. You can find her most nights lounging directly on top of her foster mom or dad with her head hanging off the couch sound asleep. She is crate trained and happily puts herself in when it’s time for bed. Though if given the opportunity to sleep free, she will wake you with a sweet kiss in the morning reminding you how much she missed you.

Onyx came into foster a bit overweight and is already down to 60 pounds, but still has a way to go to a target weight of 50. She will need a family dedicated to helping her along her weight loss journey with exercise and a monitored diet.

Onyx would do best in a home with a fenced in yard for her to run around and play fetch. She is currently being fostered with another submissive border collie and a dog savvy cat and does very well with both. As she loves to play with her foster sibling (who being older will not always reciprocate it), she would do well in a home with a submissive dog who enjoys wrestling and playing tag in the yard! She would be best suited for a home without kids as she has your typical Aussie reservation with new people and a need to control situations, so children in the home would likely be outside of her comfort zone. She will need continued patience and socialization with introductions to new people and dogs, especially in what she deems her territory. Once she warms up to strangers, she is as sweet as pie and will lay her head in their lap for pets and nicely take snacks.

Onyx is currently up to date on vaccinations, preventatives, and is spayed and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $250. Onyx is fostered in Charlotte, NC.
