Name: Pearl
Age: 6 yrs old
Breed: Australian Shepherd
Gender: Female

Pearl is perhaps the sweetest 6 year old Aussie I’ve encountered, which speaks volumes to the type of dog she is. Her first half a decade on this planet were not luxurious or kind to her as she spent the majority of her time tied to a chain in a yard. Before coming to my house she had been a strictly outdoor dog, so I was concerned she would be slow to adapt to the indoors, but she showed no fear of surfaces, noises, or anything really. Aside from recall (no small skill) she was untrained but within a day she had sit and down in the bag and we’re making real progress with stay. She shows no sign of aggression towards other dogs, children, or unknown adults. I haven’t seen her with cats but I’m guessing she would be mellow since she shows no interest in chasing squirrels.

She’s a pretty standard velcro dog who absolutely adores cuddling and performing for treats. She’s relatively low energy for an Aussie, but would love to go on regular runs and live a fully active life, she’s quiet, and doesn’t show any destructive behaviors. Essentially she’s a lovely adult dog that I would say is pretty easy. Literally everyone that I’ve introduced her to immediately comments on how sweet she is!

All that said, Pearl has keratitis, chronic dry eyes, and will need daily drops. Her condition was previously left untreated resulting in some loss of vision – due to this we do not recommend her to a home with children under 6. This doesn’t seem to slow her down in the least, but she’s likely not going to be an agility champion. Master of cuddles, companionship, and running in the woods, definitely.

Pearl is UTD on vaccines, spayed, and microchipped. She is currently fostered in Durham, NC and her adoption fee is $250.
