Looking for a companion that will not only be stunningly beautiful, but also incredibly intelligent and athletic? Interested in having a trick dog, running partner, agility, or flyball star? Ready and willing to train and exercise the daylights out of your dog? Then we may have the puppy for you!
Vada is a 7 1/2 week old (as of 9/30) red and white Aussie/Border Collie mix puppy. She is a lovely puppy – well-socialized with adults and children, and other dogs. She is also a monster, a fiend who will literally fly through the air like a screeching pterodactyl to attack whatever she deems to be her playmate of the moment. She is vocal and Velcro, and seems to have boundless amounts of wild energy. You may laugh, but we’re not laughing when she’s chomping our ankles with needle-sharp teeth at 5 a.m.
No, no, of course Vada is not truly a monster (yes she is!). She is, however, a very smart, energetic young puppy, who is going to grow and mature into an even smarter and more energetic adult dog. For this reason, we will be extra careful with her placement – Vada needs an experienced adopter who is well-prepared for the commitment that comes along with properly raising a puppy with her potential. She will require consistent training, exercise, and socialization. Structure and consistency.
So, that’s what we want. What does Vada want? Vada would love an owner or a family that has lots of time to spend with her. She will not be happy spending long hours every day in a crate, or being regulated to life as a “family dog.” Vada would probably love having a playful older canine sibling (maybe even more than one). She may consent to living with cats, however her mama does have some very strong prey drive, and it’s possible that trait exists in Vada, as well. More than anything, Vada wants a family that will make her the center of attention, to kiss her belly every morning (so she can sneaky bite your face), and she wants lots and lots of nice loud metal food bowls to play with. The louder the better.
If you think you’re up to the challenge of owning a tiny red terrorist, check out our adoption procedures (including the puppy section), and fill out an adoption application. Vada will not be available to go to a new home until the weekend of October 22, after she’s had her second puppy booster vaccine. Vada is fostered in Durham, NC, and her adoption fee will be $300 (which will include two puppy vaccines, deworming, microchip, and up-to-date monthly preventatives).
